Who is Developing the Millworks?
Whatcom Community Foundation is the master developer for the Millworks. As a community foundation, we are well positioned – with the support of a stellar experienced design, development and construction team – to take on a community benefit development project. We are also serving as a project catalyst, concept incubator and investor.
A compelling vision for Phase 2 emerged through outreach conducted with community food, agriculture, health and business leaders from 2019 to 2023, including interviews with 50 people representing 34 organizations. The Community Foundation has continued to engage local residents, partners, government leaders and entrepreneurs across the region to continue to refine the concept and design of the Millworks.
